The Acoustic Club Comes To Huddersfield SOUP
Huddersfield’s longest running open-mic night, The Acoustic Club has teamed up with Huddersfield SOUP to programme music showcases as part of the SOUP pitch night events.
The concept of a SOUP event is simple – come along and make a minimum £5 donation in return for a bowl of soup and a chance to vote for your favourite pitch from four local people, each vying for the night’s takings. Their ideas may range from art and social enterprise to education and technology brainwaves. The winner will then be awarded the micro-grant. The collaboration with The Acoustic Club means the evenings will also include music performances from local singer-songwriters.
Commenting on why he chose to get involved, Small Seeds Manager Noah Burton said: “SOUP is a great concept which helps people to gain support for their ideas which ultimately benefit the town. As an event organiser myself I know how vital that support is when trying to make interesting things happen.
“Being able to shine the light on local musical talent during SOUP events is another great way to share the rich talent we have in Huddersfield. I’m thrilled for The Acoustic Club and Small Seeds are going to be involved.”
Brent Woods, CEO of The Media Centre and founder of Huddersfield SOUP says he is excited to be working with The Acoustic Club at Small Seeds on the event. “For over 16 years The Acoustic Club has been providing a showcase for Huddersfield talent. Their Tuesday night open-mic plays a crucial role in our town’s cultural cultural landscape, bringing generations of musicians together.
“Noah has been organising music events and cultural events in Huddersfield for years and understands the value of helping musicians to reach new audiences. I can think of no one better better to help us to spotlight musical talent at Huddersfield SOUP.”
The next Huddersfield SOUP is being held on Wednesday 22 March at The Media Centre’s Cafe Ollo. It will feature live music from Robert Sharp.
The Acoustic Club at Small Seeds is held every Tuesday night at 9pm
